History

1990 – 1994

Ian Baxter worked for Bardsley Construction as a Site Engineer, before taking the step to become self-employed in 1988, aged 24. From these humble beginnings, Baxter Construction was born and began as a local housebuilder in 1990, but after 1994 turned its focus to civil engineering under the direction of Ian and Joy Baxter, with Ian’s brother Billy joining the company later.

1995 – 2002

From there the company grew, and its core activity changed, to become one of Lancashire’s most prominent civil engineering companies, working for the likes of Miller, Persimmon, Kensington and Jones Homes.

2003 – 2008

In 2003 the Group returned to housebuilding under Baxter Homes, building affordable, stylish and quality homes in Lancashire. These developments focused on enhancing the communities they are a part of.

Since early 2008, Baxter Construction has returned to housing, working as the main contractor on a number of social housing schemes and engaging with various Registered Providers. Baxter Construction also continues to operate as the Baxter Group’s in-house civil engineering division.

2009 – 2019

In 2017 Newberry Homes was born as the bespoke, luxury division within the Group, managed by Ian’s son, Callum Baxter. This focus on being dynamic, whilst offering an unrivalled level of quality, is the essence of what The Baxter Group is about.

As we approach 2020 the Baxter Group continues to develop and improve. We have introduced Baxter Estates to manage our investments and property portfolio, as well as investing significantly in the business through our systems and workforce. We are eager to continually improve and look forward to building upon our existing relationships as well as developing new ones.
